FAQs

Yes, we can! Car accidents are very common today and that will likely be the case until we get those self-driving cars we keep hearing about! Our office is a phenomenal option to help you heal and get back to normal life ASAP. Whiplash studies show that impacts as low as five miles per hour can cause severe soft tissue damage. It’s important to get evaluated as quickly as possible after any accident to avoid a bigger problem down the road. We will also work with your attorney, or refer you to one of our partners if you think you have a case.

Following your first correction, the doctor will have the statistics he needs to estimate the length of care necessary. There are numerous factors related to your symptoms. Through decades of clinical research, there is a 42-day window after your initial correction when your spine adapts and heals the most. During this period, you will typically experience the greatest change related to symptoms. The main goal is to re-ignite the healing process and position you for long term healing. True healing takes place as you maintain ideal postural alignment.

We love to see and care for children and families. Many of our clients are parents and grandparents who had injuries early in life that were not properly addressed, monitored or corrected. Perhaps we can do more for our children? Considering this, birth may be the first major trauma! We want to remove any interference as early as possible to help you and your children live life to the fullest potential. The doctor’s children, and his many nieces and nephews, were checked immediately upon or soon after birth. They are healthy and strong!

The primary difference with NUCCA or Upper Cervical care is the use objective measurement to determine when and where you NEED a correction (our goal is NOT to adjust when the body & spine are aligned). Secondarily, we focus the corrections primarily on the top two bones in the spine. Think of a correction as something to get when necessary for your body’s healing. Consider going to a dentist, for the most part you want objective verification that everything is going well. Additionally, when you proactively get checked, we can catch and address misalignments and issues early on. And before they turn into emergency situations or become chronic.

Our office focuses the start of care on the upper cervical area of the spine/neck. It is important to understand that the rest of the spine moves and interacts based on the relationship between the head and the neck. That’s why we have such successful outcomes for a wide range of aches, pains and symptoms. That said, it is our mission to consider the entire person: mentally, emotionally, nutrition, exercise and lifestyle to achieve the health you are capable of for an enriched vibrant life.

Our office hours are:
Monday 9:00am – 6:00pm
Tuesday 9:00am – 6:00pm
Wednesday 9:00am – 6:00pm
Thursday 9:00am – 6:00pm
Friday 2:00pm – 4:00pm
Saturday for established clients only.
Sunday Closed

For the first three visits, we charge a flat fee. We then offer payment plans for future visits and let you decide what is best for your health and wellbeing. We are very confident that you will be in a better position than when you arrived. This work is a foundation for all health and wellness care. Additionally, we believe healthcare is a right (not a privilege) and so we do everything in our power to help people recieve the care the desperately need. If you need alternative payment options, please inquire.

Our office is a non-participating provider. This means we do not bill Medicare directly or accept assignment. However, we will provide you the necessary form and send it in for you to seek reimbursement.

We accept all insurance and operate as a non-preferred or out of network provider. This means that we do not contract directly with insurance companies or limit your care based on their reimbursements. Keep in mind that your benefits are subject to the rules your provider has for out-of-network coverage. We recommend that you check with your provider prior to coming in for care. Call the phone number on the back of your health insurance card. The health insurance representative will ask for your member ID number, group number and date of birth, and then will explain your coverage. Please bring this information in with you. Most current plans have a deductible and require payment by you. We will work with you to determine what your out of pocket cost will be. Payment is due at the time of service, and can be made in the form of cash, check or credit card.

It is true that clients tend to receive more benefits as spinal alignment is maintained over time. Another way to consider this question is like education. Some people graduate high school, others have graduate-level degrees. Both paths can be successful, but the opportunities and benefits are different for each. The goal of care is to stabilize your spine and improve spinal balance so the body heals more effectively. When this occurs, the possibilities are infinite, just like continued education.

This truly preventive care is an option for anyone interested in optimizing the systems of their body, moving better and healing more effectively. Most people who initially come for care are suffering from pain or an ailment. See our list of conditions that have responded well to NUCCA upper cervical care.

When “subluxation” is deconstructed it means “a condition of less than light”. Most of us understand this chiropractic term as a misaligned spine. The symptoms of a misaligned/subluxated spine are numerous and complex, affecting the body’s joints, motion, health and physiology. The focus of care in this office is the first or second bone in the neck. When either is misaligned in relation to one another or relative to the head, communication at the level of the brainstem can be interrupted leading to dis-function and dis-ease.

The series of x-rays that are standard in this office are minimal in client radiation dose. The established threshold for an individual’s annual diagnostic exposure is not to exceed 5000 millirems. To put this in perspective, a CT scan is approximately 20% of the annual threshold, a mammogram is approximately 1.5%, and a typical NUCCA series x-ray is less than one half of one (< 1/2) percent of the annual threshold. We take every care to limit your exposure.

The nature of this work is gentle and precise. To accurately determine how to proceed, we take custom views of the neck and build a 3-D model to most advantageously correct your misalignment. There are over 10,000 possible misalignment options in the complex joint between the head and neck. X-rays provide visual confirmation and guideposts on how to efficiently unwind the misalignment. Determining what condition your spine is in leads to faster recovery and eliminates the guesswork. You can expect better outcomes because of the precision we employee on your behalf.

Only if a correction is necessary. We use specific measurements and analysis to determine your need for an adjustment or spinal correction. The goal of care is to balance and stabilize your spine so that fewer adjustments are required over time. If no adjustment/correction is needed this is a very positive sign!

At Evoke Spinal Care, we recommend, after stabilization is achieved, that you come in for checkups quarterly or semiannually to ensure that your progress is secure.

It is a different experience for each person. People tend to have some soreness in the shoulders and back the next day as the body adapts to a more neutral position. Keep in mind, we are correcting a misaligned spine which may have been injured years prior and is compensating for this problem. We recommend that you take it easy and walk as much as possible after the first correction so your body can recalibrate and integrate the changes to your entire system. Clients have told us that everything from sleep to pain and energy levels have improved immediately after a correction. We provide a list of recommendations to take home and adhere to for the best long-term maintenance of your correction.

No, there is no cracking, turning, popping or twisting with our techniques. We are appealing to people who are concerned with getting too much stimulation or input from heavy adjustments. Additionally, we are often referred by other chiropractors that are not getting the desired results or their people have had surgeries, or injuries that do not lend well to heavy manual adjustments. When change occurs in the body it isn’t always comfortable and people can be sore after the misaligned spine is corrected.

Why don’t you adjust me on the first visit?

Most doctors and clinicians agree that the cranio-cervical junction (head and neck) is the most complex joint interaction in the entire body. Because of this complexity, Evoke uses the most precise and specific analysis available. This head and neck connection are very close to the brain stem, which is critical to vital functions, including digestion, sleep cycles, pain modulation, and control of involuntary postural muscles along the spine. It is critically important to get this correction as close to perfect as possible. With that in mind, we take the time to accurately define your plan and then have you back for the first correction.

Evoke’s Intake Visit is approximately one hour. During this appointment with Dr. Dietzen, a complete history, postural assessments, range of motion, orthopedic tests and custom 3-D x-rays are completed. We compile and analyze this valuable information to determine a plan of action customized to you.

The care is gentle and precise with no popping or twisting of the neck or joints. You will receive a customized care plan with measurable results and goals. Your plan provides tremendous monetary value, as fewer visits are required once spinal stability is achieved. The process and techniques have been validated through published research.

Most people don’t even know they have a spinal misalignment until significant deterioration has occurred. We recommend being proactive with your health by minimizing unnecessary joint deterioration due to a misaligned spine. The assessments used at Evoke ensure a preventive course of care whether you have pain and symptoms, or not.

Yes, AND it is important to know that the benefits go way beyond our backs and joints. Evoke Spinal Care is committed to restoring posture and balance to the whole body. Spinal balance allows for more even distribution of weight on all joint surfaces. Resulting in pain relief, full range of motion and increased function. If you suffer from pain or any health-related condition, it is recommended that you come in for an assessment to determine if you are a candidate for care.
